About the event

The House of Bernarda Alba, the last work that Federico García Lorca wrote before being shot, is a cry to the repressed passions of women. Bernarda, her daughters and those who live with them, are strong women who are under repression, coupled with intense desires and prejudices about the feminine, typical of the time. The death of one man and the arrival of another is the starting point that Lorca uses to reveal the inner world of the house and condense all the passions, rivalries, struggles, loves and heartbreaks of these eight women. .

The staging is inspired by Lorca's phrase: “these three acts are intended as a photographic documentary.” The language is minimalist, black and white like the photographs of the time, and gives all the weight and prominence to the characters, who throughout the work intertwine some images with others, like a constant choreography of physical structures. At the beginning and end of each act, a quasi-photographic freeze is created, which animates as the light enters. Federico García Lorca. The most outstanding playwright and poet of the 20th century in Spain. Also author of Bodas de Sangre, Yerma, La Zapatera Prodigiosa, Romancero Gitano, A Poet in New York. He was shot by the Franco regime in 1936.
